Lab Manager - Joint Venture GCC Lab

UL, a global safety science Organisation and GCC Labs have partnered together to form a Joint Venture based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. This exciting Joint Venture aims to combine resources, knowledge and expertise to expand services to the renewable energy market and strengthen the Middle East’s renewable energy infrastructure.

As part of the development and growth of the Joint Venture, we are now looking for a Lab Manager. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the management and the operations of the GCC Joint Venture Laboratory. The Lab Manager is also responsible for the development and achievement of operating plans, goals and budgets including capital for their designated lab. They will be expected to manage the staff and daily activity of the lab, partner with the UL and GCC management of engineering, laboratory operations and business units to ensure customer satisfaction and achievement of business objectives. Lastly, they may participate in corporate or regional initiatives to address and resolve laboratory quality, technical consistency, and testing accuracy issues.
Location is Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

  • Oversees the establishment of appropriate testing programs and the coordination of laboratory activities within the designated laboratories.

  •  Identifies and pursues the development of requirements for test procedures beyond the scope of existing standards and requirements involving unique features and requiring the use of independent judgment.

  •  Manages the development and maintenance of state-of-the-art laboratory equipment.

  •  Establishes and maintains the test proficiency training program and competencies for laboratory personnel.

  •  Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.

  • Implements policies, procedures, and practices mandated for the laboratories to ensure compliance to (ISO 17O25 as well as other defined accreditation requirements for the designated laboratories.

  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job utilizing the Lean Sigma approach.

  •  Performs other duties as directed.


  • المهارات

    University degree in Engineering or related field plus generally 8 years of related experience including at least four years of relevant management/leadership experience;
    Demonstrated ability to manage department objectives, staffing and budgets;
    Detailed knowledge of product testing methodologies;
    Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage projects from beginning to completion;
    Demonstrated ability of managing a team of engineers and technicians;
    Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and Renewables is desirable but not essential.
